Today I have a video tutorial .
My first tutorial on video. Please bear some editing issues...I am learning!

This weeks Product Highlight is CHALK PAINTS, STENCIL and LIQUID LEAF, Copper.



I have altered a champagne glass packaging box using these products.

ONE for the COLORFUL SOUL...

Hello Crafty peeps…

A cool welcome to all of you…yes, it’s been raining past couple of days and things around me are fresh and colorful!

Today I have a journal page that reflects the colorful side of me (wink)! I love this quote from paper Artsy and decided to make this the focal point…am sure all artists will agree with this!

I have colored the page with Faber Castell Gelatos Bubble gum, Orange Soda, Red Cherry, Boysenberry and Limoncello…that’s a riot of colors I know…love the bright shades!

Once the colors are blended I created textures with stencils and gelatos in red and blue. I also used texture paste and some random stamping. It was all about colors, textures and layers in the page..played to my hearts content.

The left top side, I created a tear and inserted some lovely textured handmade paper which feels like leather. There is also a bit of net and lace peeking there all held together with a zipper!

The focal point is a ornate die cut which had the TCW brick texture and colored with DI antique linen. I have tried the gesso resist technique here and so the bricks still remain white! Beneath is the quote from PA and then comes layers of texture using paper scraps, lace, woven mat, burlap all raised up with foam dots!

I wanted it all on this page! Which is why the flowers are just plain simple white. Recently I created a whole lot of flowers using the Modge mold and Plaster of Paris and am loving these white ones…you would have seem them in my previous projects too!

I have edged the page with red dry pastel and then with black. The ornate corners are using TCW stencils and texture paste. There is also some faux stitching in white and some color splats too which bring the whole thing together.

Secret Garden Memories

Hello Crafters,

Thank you all for your visits and valuable comments on my rustic candle holder! Today I have something just the opposite, a colorful mixed media canvas…a long time on my “to do” list as you can see I mostly do altered projects only!

This is my DT project for Scrapping4Fun  challenge#28 where it is “Anything Goes” and we have this picture inspiration...which means leave it to your imagination and creativity and see where it takes you!

You can create just about anything…

My imagination landed right in my Garden..Lol ! I am a nature lover and spend my first half hour in the morning with my “cuppa” in the garden…it’s an absolute bliss out there…total unwinding and a lot of creative thinking! Do you do that too..I just love sitting by the window and watching the greens…my studio too over looks the garden…I have to thank my husband for that who sacrificed his garage for me to have the “creative space”!

With all that said, I just took all the bright colors from the palette and went ahead with my garden story! Nothing in this planned and I just went with the flow…what ever my heart and soul had to say about my “garden memories”.

For once, I have used a real stretched canvas…no hidden box or carton…so no surprises, Lol!

A coat f gesso and my canvas was ready to take the textures I wanted. I painted with acrylic tubes in blue green and yellow and then used a rose stencil and” wiped off” color using a baby wipe! This left a lovely pattern revealing the canvas beneath!

I then took out my granite texture paste and created random textures with the palette knife. Tore out some pages from an old “romantic” novel and edged it with walnut stain, DI and adhered it with gel medium. The stamped image is a cute Micia rubber stamp( my first stamp)! I kept this side in brown tones and the rest of the canvas has all the bright colors. The little girl is in a hammock just reflecting my thought of spending time in the garden, she swings and I just sit, that’s the difference!!! I have created a nest using coconut coir and some hand made flowers completes the look.

I then stenciled a big flower using home made texture paste and colored it too. Stamped randomly on it and also created textures with bubble wrap. I had some red ink running down and rubbed yellow paint all around the canvas with my fingers. Loved the mess..

The TH tattered clock is just an indication of how time flies and with all the hustle and bustle of the every day regime, take time to follow your passion! I have also added some lace beneath the clock and finally added a bling flourish swirl to add that sparkle!

A TH corrugated flower with the quote says it all! My garden is my fav space and the place that kindles my creative soul..so “Dream on”…have colorful memories.

A light from within...

Hello Crafters…

Thank you all for constantly supporting my work and also my last few projects have got their due by being” featured” in various blog. Am so happy…

Today’s project has been in my” To Do” for a long time now. I have been wanting to do this Faux patina technique on a wooden box  but have not been able to get the box that I wanted so I went ahead and did the same on this….

I had a Buddha statue in metal, one of my first purchases when I got newly married and was setting up a house! I wanted to make a proper display for it…I had this picture in mind, of a metal box, weathered and old with texture on it  and some soft lighting to highlight the texture and colors of the box. At same time, I wanted the whole thing to radiate calmness and peace …would that be possible??? Well with all this in mind, I set out experimenting, this time I was just going with my heart’s desire…the final visual was very clear and I was just working to make that REAL!

And this is the outcome!

Now for the details on the making!

2 coats of gesso and then coloring with turquoies acrylics and then texture with TCW damask stencil and home made texture paste.

I did some crackling in some areas. Then came layers of paint in gold, copper, brown, black and turquoise to get the "patina" look!

I then cut out small tiles from the body of the box. These tiles are 2.5" X 3" and got some lovely Buddha images with quotes from google and decoupaged it to the tile. The tile was then edged with copper and gold heat embossing and peacock feather DI. Also fixed gold eyelets on the top and bottom of the tile.

At this stage, I hand dyed some natural twine in peacock feather DI and also applied gold paint in spots. This twine was used to tie up the tile in the slots! How cool is that?

Since the box was bright with the copper and gold hues, I wanted the embellishments to be minimal and not take away the beauty of the technique and the textures...I made some pure white lace flowers to depict the calmness and purity associated with Buddha. For the flower centers have used dried berries from the garden!

At the base of the box, I adhered a vintage trim with mini coconut shell beads . some of them are painted in copper too! the box has turquoise bottle cap feet too!

And now comes the dramatic effect...I placed led candles behind the tiles and when switched on...it's gives the perfect warm glow for this setting. I was just not able to get the right pic for this...hope you can visualize!

And if this is not enough...there is small surprise behind the tile! yes, it can be turned around to have a different set up if you are bored with the first look! Yes a reversible shadow box!

For the back of the tiles, I photocopied some vintage quotes on friendship and stuck them inked them the same way.
