mini altered canvas

Hello Crafters....

I have been toying with altereing a mini box canvas and decided to do something for my husband, whose birthday is tomorrow! It's blazing hot in this part of India, so I thought I will stick to some aqua colors that can visually be cooling!!!

I layered the canvas with torn pages from a novel with gel medium matte and then gave a coat of gessso.

Later, adhered some washi tapes, and measuring tape( since my husband heads a garment division) to go with the masculine theme. I applied layers of acrylic color tubes, yellow ochre, turquoise and green and blended using a baby wipe.

Later took out the gears stencil from Kaisercraft and mini bricks from crafters template and added some textures on the canvas randomly. used acrylic paints too on the stencils and stuck torn CC in some place.

I stamped the TH visual artistry stamp on the novel page and tore it and made it the focal point here with the sentiment from Kaisercraft too.
Th weathered clock with music stamp on it and some buttons stuck randomly completes the canvas. I have also stamped my husbands birth date for that extra special feel!

There are random textures and stamping on the sides, top and bottom of the canvas for an alround effect.

I hope he likes it...
Well, do let me know what you think about this.
Thanks so much for stopping by...
Until then,
Happy Crafting and Re cycling,
Cheers.

re cycle wonder!

Hello Crafters...
The re cycler in me is growing by the day and am always looking for stuff around the house which can be altered.
I have always felt immense satisfaction when I re cycle stuff in my craft project...it's now a habbit!

Today's project is a desk top organizer made from empty tissue rolls, waste CD, cut out from an old pair of denims and sheets torn from an old novel! Now isn't that a lot of stuff that has been re cycled...I just LOVE it.

The glam part comes from the colorful washi tapes , the Inkadinkado floral flourish stamps ...my current fav...lovin them and TH tatterd floral bloom!Hope you can see the shell feet peeping out!

For a change, am going to let the pics speak for themselves...enjoy the roll and do get back with your views on this.

My fav Inkadinkado stamped on gessoed strips of paper from a novel.

Images colored with markers

The colored strips adhered to TP rolls and gessoed.

The final makeover with washi tapes, blooms and jute string.

Thank you sooo much for stopping by.

Mom...U R tagged!

Hello Crafters..
Today's project is all about some tags that I altered...these are all tags that came with some clothing purchase. I just loved the size and the shapes of them all and decided to make a wall décor out of it!

I was also exited about using the CLD dies that I won recently and decided to make a keepsake for my mom.
Have a look....

The base of all the tags are papers from old novels, which I have gesssoed to mellow down the paper print.
The 1st tag has a lovely floral image stamped using Inkadinkado stamps and have used my markers to color them.
CLD mini doily, oriental Lamp post, quills and cuties die have been used and have just stamped the sentiment "best friend " here...a row of pink bling on one side brightens the whole tag!

The 2nd tag, I have retained a scalloped circle frame that I have heat embossed in black and the sentiment says it all...so kept the embellishment simple with a CLD Shasta daisy,Olive branches and small angel wings die.
The vintage look here is complete with crystal bling!

The last tag, I have used another stamp from the same Inkadinkado set which is colored and floral spray is using CLD cuties and butterfly using small angel wings die. The cute little stamp with the sentiment is using the Whimsy stamps and I just love the quote!

I then took an old earring whose partner was missing and made a chunky charm out of it by adding more charms and attached all the tags with pearl strings and my "mother's day" wall hanging was ready!

The edges of all the tags are distressed with scissors and inked with distress inks to give a slightly worn out look.

A simple and colorful gift made with loots of love and care for my mother...isn't it perfect????

Just let me know your view on this...Thank you so much for stopping by.

Spring makeover!

Hello Crafters...
My studio is getting a new door and am soooo excited about it! The old glass door has a gap underneath and since my studio overlooks the garden, I have been having a lots of creepy, crawly visitors and rats too who have had a taste of my work..literally! Yes! my flowers have been eaten up from many projects....

Since the new door is arriving soon, I decided to make a "Welcome" hanging sign inspired by spring and so the lovely colors, birds, eggs, nest, butterflies and more!
Have a look....

The recycled item here is an old serving tray!

I was fortunate that this was a circle and decided to have the focal point as an egg cracking up and the welcome sign popping out, surrounded by a lovely spring garden! Do you see that here????

Firstly, I adhered CC to the entire tray and gessoed it up..

.then added some PP on the top and bottom half with a torn center to the give the cracking up effect. From the torn center I had the lovely pink net cloth that comes out and I stuck the foam "welcome" die cut in bright yellow(the yolk) !

Frankly, after this I had a creative block and dint know how to go about for at least 2 days...then the idea of a spring garden with loots of creepers is what came to my mind. I have drilled holes on the top and bottom and to right side I have a threaded a jute rope I which the creeper is entwined and some lovely little orange flowers peeking out. I was half there as I was so happy with greenery on one side and decided the other half of of the tray would be bare with some random mini bricks stamped and some CC torn and distresses which were also randomly stuck.

The birds nest is made from coconut coir and have also used some coconut shell chips in a few places...the eggs inside the basket and the bird perched on the nest gives the much needed garden look. I have used bright colored handmade blooms in purple, yellow ,orange and white here and also the cicus plant here made from CLD quills die...dosent it look beautiful??? I have planted it on top of a coconut shell chip!

A few stamped, colored and hand cut butterflies hover around in my spring garden too.

I added a sentiment as an interest factor for people visiting my studio who would take that second glance to see it and get inspired! Well this wont make you laugh, but if it brings a smile, my job is done. here too I have used a coconut shell chip on which a little butterfly is sitting!

I managed to find some cow bells in my stash and you can see it handing in my garden here...every time the door is opened I am sure to hear it ringing...Oh! I love it.
I cant wait to hang this on the door...but need to wait for sometime!

Thank you so much for visiting my garden and do let me know what your experience was....

Doily baskets...

Hello Crafters,
My second post for the day! And, I have a reason why...Today is one of those days, you come across something nice and your heart and hands are restless until you sit down and complete that task!
That's what I felt about these cute, feminine, Doily baskets...have a look!

I liked them so much, I made 2 of those, each a different style.

The 1st one is in sheer white! I have used printer paper and CLD(DL101) for the doilies.  Oh..I just love how delicate, pure and feminine it looks.

There are actually 6 doilies layered up for this! After layering, spritz it with little water and then sandwich it between 2 cups to get the shape and let it dry! This makes it really sturdy too. Easy right???

I have dry embossed the handle and have used CLD daisy die(B310) and used a white brad here for the center. The white feathers are also CLD(B369) which peeks out from the flowers. A simple "Thank You" with a few blings and the basket is ready and perfect to gift some hand made chocolates to your loved ones!

The 2nd basket is made from handmade paper and Kraft paper and inked heavily with wild honey, vintage photo and crushed olive.

The edges of the doilies are heat embossed with gold embossing  powder and so is the edges of the handle.

Have stamped on the handle and daisy flower too is inked. The sentiment here is "Handmade for You" and adds  that personal touch while gifting!

That's pretty much it...I hope you now understand why I had to do this right away! Have you ever felt like that...do let me know and also how you like this basket.

All buttoned up!

 Hello Crafters...
I have another baby room décor today...but it's for a baby BOY ! My previous post was for a baby girl and this too is made out of an empty CEREAL CARTON!

Yes, I have made this into a faux canvas and made a 2 side display for the baby photos with some tags for journaling and the twist here is the baby CLOTHES HANGER which is fused inside the carton and now has been altered so that the box can be easily hung anywhere in the room!

One side of the canvas has a teddy shape ( a babies first companion) I guess...with some colorful buttons to highlight the outline.
Here I have used buttons die cut in different colors, sizes and patterns and the photo display becomes really cute with this embellishment! Have a look...

The box has been given a border using yellow and orange washi tapes...this is such an easy way to cover the edges too.
The other side has a PP with rockets and a scooter, perfect to capture a Toddlers memories....and a few buttons to add color to the corners.

The side panels of the box has a teddy pocket with tags for journaling! Some of the buttons too are made from washi tapes...they look soo cute!

The hanger has been spray painted in silver and a simple silver and blue bow completes the look.

I have stamped "My Baby" and "My Love" with the Inkadinkado stamps and colored it with markers.
The sentiments have been placed vertically on the box with acetate sheet which gives it some dimension.

And the entire faux canvas display comes to life as I adhered the photos on both the sides! This definitely is a different kind of baby room décor...What say???
Your feedback is welcome and would like to know what you feel about this.
