Shabbily Mixed Up !!!

Hello Friends...
I have a shabby mixed media altered box to share with you today. Oh! I am just lovin the mess and textures of mixed media and gives me a double high when I use up some trash and things lying around the house to give a new look with the mess created!!!
You want to see the beautiful mess????
As always lots of pictures and detailing. Love the challenges that I am linking these to...lots to experiment, learn and create. I would like to dedicate this to all the friends I have made from blogland, crafting journey and those who have liked my work and put up with my my re cycling phobia!!!

The top of the box has some rugged texture created with twigs from the garden and jute rope from packaging. The twigs have been generously gessoed and misted with LSG flat fabio(Rizzo's rowdy red)...love the name! Random placement of rose buds and the butterflies gives it a natural look. The blue butterfly is heat embossed in silver and inked whereas the smaller one is stamped and colored using distress inks.
The blooms in all their glory! An assortment of handmade flowers all done by me. I love making my own flowers, very addictive and therapeutic. You agree???

The front panel of the box. I have used leftover upholstery fabric(feels like canvas) to cover up the outside of the box. I just love the frayed edges...gives it the much needed shabby look. The fabric has been adhered to the box using fabric glue and then I have created textures on it using Prima wood grain stencil and texture paste mixed with acrylic colors. I have stenciled all over to match the rugged texture of the twigs. The kaisercraft butterflies are stamped randomly using Archival ink. For the closure I have used satin ribbons to tie up and rolled up jute rope and gessoed it to give the look of a button. The rose buds, and a twig with the pearl end, a flourish and a few hovering butterflies add beauty and warmth to the lovely sentiment on the banner.Hope you can see the blue pebble feet!

The equally beautiful view from the back side! The flowers spilling over, the fruit net and the stenciling...what a view.
The lid when opened up...the fabric patch with stenciling and butterflies continues..
The walls of the box are lined with complimenting colored PP from Recollections(As beautiful as a peacock) paper stack. The base has the fabric with few more butterflies visiting!
These are some of the re cycled items used in this project. The box is a contribution from a friends friend who has been very appreciative of my re cycled projects and I have many fiends who patiently collect thrie trash for me! I have a store room full of boxes, cd's, tissue rolls, bottles and more..all waiting for their turn to have a makeover.

Thank you so much for stopping by and do let me know if you liked this shabby mess!

Sweet Vintage shadow !!!

Hello Crafters...
Today's project is a sweet vintage shadow box that I created and the theme being wedding anniversary! Yes,I happen to know a lot of friends and relatives who have their wedding anniversaries in June.

This creation is a sweet dedication to all those of you who had their weddings in June! Are you wondering why am I using the word "sweet" so often??? Well, for that you need to scroll down and see what it is all about!!!

Now onto the description of the shadow box....
I have done vintage mixed media( my current passion) for this project using Something Blue paper pack from Prime and French country stack from DCWV. I have chosen brown, orange, teal and gold as the main colors for this.
texture for the base has been cretaed by tearing and distressing the PP's and then stenciling with modelling paste using damask stencil from Itsy Bitsy and cracks stencil from Prima.
Some random heat embossing in gold and script and music stamping using Bo Bunny stamps has also been done.
The shadow box has a layer of gold net for texture, and the couple sit happily inside with a lot of vintage embellishments handmade by me!

The vintage roses are handmade using TH tarred florals, misted and laced with diamond dust. The ornate flowers in teal and gold are using CLD Lace corner deco D (B164) and the feathers using CLD (B369).

The vintage pocket watch is a combination of TH stamp and Joy crafts die and have heat embossed the edges in gold to give a gold rim!The scalloped oval frame too is heat embossed.

The sentiments are down loaded from the net and have used CLD lace corner deco again to design the tags. These tags have space for journaling at the back.

The sides of the boxes have been painted with orange acrylic paint and has damask texture which has been buffed with gold paste and then distressed using vintage photo.

I have loaded this piece with a lot of embellishments and textures and finally misted with LSG, glimmer mist cactus gold!
Hope you like this vintage creation as much as I enjoyed making it. Thank you so much for stopping by and would love to hear your take on this.

wall art with mini blocks

 Hello Crafters...
My journey of converting empty cartons into canvas blocks continues and this time I have tried playing around with diff sizes of small cartons, some wooden animals and fruit net to make a wall art with a difference!
This is the before and after of the makeover!

Over to details....

All the boxes have been modge podged with torn pieces of paper from an old novel to form the base of the canvas.
I have done shabby chic mixed media for this project, with lots of texturing using stencils, texture paste and die cuts too!
For the front of the box, have stuck a PP from the French stack from DCWV, the pastel colors were just perfect for this! The PP is torn in places to reveal some lace behind it and after adhering the die cuts, have gessoed the whole box and then misted with distress inks picked rasberry, peacock feathers and crushed olive. The floral spray has also been gessoed to mute the colors and the fruit net adds a lovely dimension to the arrangement. The wooden elephant has been generously gessoed and then inked with distress inks and I have drawn the eyes with a marker. I hope you can see the tiny dolphins hanging from the bell charm.

The slender block has the sentiment stamped on canvas cloth and then inked and have also gessoed the edges. some ornate die cuts, flat back pebbles and the cute dolphins completes this block. I love the giraffe peeping out here! The sentiment is from Inkadinkado.

The lower square block has the same PP from DCWV, torn and distressed. The TH birdcage is the focal point here cut with felt cloth with lovely handmade blooms using CLD dies and TH die all of which has been misted and inked with distress inks and also water washed with gesso to mute it.
The seam binding also has been misted with picked raspberry and then stamped with the script stamp from Bo Bunny.

A side view of all the blocks on the wall! hope you can see the PP on the sides, the torn and tarred texture and the majestic display of the animals!

A closer look at the different textures ...

A look at the canvas sentiment and lovely gessoed and inked white elephant!

Eagerly waiting for your feedback. This is my first attempt at a shabby chic project and trust me, the display looks absolutely stunning on my textured wall too! Am glad the much neglected animals have found a new home and now they will definitely get noticed!
I hope you are saving your cartons too! You are going to see a series of my conversions in my future projects too!
Thanks so much for stopping by.

Denim Tag for Dad

Hello Crafters...
Am here with a very quick post , a tag that I made for fathers's day.
The tag is for a man who loves his denims, loves listening to music, reads a lot, does things at his own pace...(the weathered clock die cut from TH is a gentle reminder to him to do things on time!!!!) and Most importantly is a COOL COOL person!

I have chosen aqua colors for the rat and have dome TH water misting technique with distress inks for the background. Random script stamping and music note stamping along with textures and stencils gives the rad a rugged look.

The sentiment says it all, though my fav is the gross grain ribbon with the beer mug on it!

Anniversary Box with a Twist!!!

Hello Crafters...
It's been a lovely vacation and we as a family had some lovely time and it's been difficult to get back my creative spirits after this break!!!
Well, I had to do this post without much delay bcos as the title suggests, its for our wedding anniversary falling on the 16th this month and we start our 20th year together!
Inspired by the fauna and flora and the colorful landscape of Ooty, I have chosen bright, cheerful colors and made a suitcase shaped altered canvas since the travel hangover is still on me! The entire placement has been done keeping the sketch from Lulupu challenge in mind, and it really helped!
The twist part shall be revealed at the end.
Mixed media is what I have done and choosing complimenting colors from the photo, I have created textures using paper pieces from an old novel, some stencil textures with modelling paste and crackle effect using inks and some ink dripping and misting too. The base has been colored with acrylic paints.

This photo was taken just last week, and keeping that as the focal point, have worked things around it. I have tried to create an outdoor garden look using CLD lampost die and flowers are all handmade using CLD sunflower and daisy die. The ornate corners in yellow and black too is from CLD!

I have stamped some butterflies and I just loved the little birdhouse charm and got it hanging from the post!

Tando Creative Challenge had this lovely quote to be incorporated , and it was just perfect for the occasion.
The 2 little birds perched on the banner completes the outdoor look and they just seem to be happy in their own world!

A white lace and some heart die cuts tucked in gives the LO a fuller look!
I actually enjoyed covering up the sides of the canvas...it has 3 layers! Firstly, a music sheet PP, then a pastel floral PP from DCWV French collection and then some corrugated cardboard! Somehow my hands love to tear and distress the edges!

For the handle, I cut my old belt which was tearing apart and fixed some white brads to it ...just love the suitcase bag look! Do you????
I also gave the canvas a wooden feet so that it can be placed anywhere in the room or sometimes hung on the wall too.
I have had a generous coating of gesso and distress inks in this project and these bright colors just pop up when placed anywhere.
I appreciate you stopping by and leaving your feedback on this creation.

And now, for the twist..are you wondering what???
Here it is...a small secret about my canvas!!!!

You bet, this is as sturdy as any original canvas and I have loads of carton in queue now!!!Hope this inspires you to try too.

Until then, Happy Crafting and re cycling.
Hugs.
