Musical Tree !

Hello crafters..
I am back after a small break…just a little busy with my little one’s school admission. Now, relieved as I am done and have an admission into a good school close to home!
Today’s project involves my fav colors..are you guessing?? Yes, one is brown (not surprising) and the other yellow!
This combo just adds that “sunshine” to any project…and so am here with an altered wall plaque this time.

The base is an MDF cut out and I had a great time doing this for a “Family” who loves to entertain people and there are so many fond memories in that house for me! I made this for my Aunt and Uncle so that they have it on the door and think of me every time they enter their house! And for every visitor who rings their bell, I thought there will be something interesting to watch until they open the door, lol!

Have a look and tell me….
I have done my favorite tree bark technique using masking tape and homemade texture paste. I hand drew an oval and did the texture work only in the outer boundary and colored it with acrylics. Once satisfied with it, I made my own music sheet paper with archival ink and Bo bunny music notes stamp and inked it with vintage photo and walnut stain to antique it.
I then inserted this page in the center of the bark and curled out the edges of the bark, so it looks a little dimensional. I love the combination of the vintage music sheet against the tree bark. A musical tree lol!
I was clear about having a spring/summer look…bright and inviting …so went with yellows, a little pink and red color flowers all using CLD sunflower die, Joy crafts, heart felt creations and the small flowers using a circle punch! . I inked them to my requirement and arranged them on the bark.

The resin flourish is another of my fav and is quite long! I did it in green and then used PVA glue technique to create the crackle and applied yellow color. The yellow and green cracks make it really bright!
Flower clusters on 2 sides with some faux berries made with beads and dipped in blue alcohol inks give that little pop of colors from the flowers. The sunflower centers too have some shiny micro beads!

The dragon fly too is a resin mold on which I applied rock candy Distress crackle and filled the cracks with brown acrylics.

The alphabets are made using TH marbling technique, I used yellows, oranges, blue and green DI . Applied them on the craft mat, sprit zed water and swooshed in a CS and got a lovely pattern!~ I then cut the alphabets and layered it with another card board alphabet for thickness. I wanted it glossy and so I dipped each one in hot melted UTEE to get a thick coating…just look at those glossy marbled alphabets…

I did the same treatment to the music note die cut with music notes stamped on it!
A little sentiment “May your day be filled with Sunshine” says it all! It is tucked under a sunflower and some coconut coir nest! I just get thet cozy feeling when I see that, do you??? And oh! That BEE…was a last minute addition, my latest buy! A stamp that I heat embossed, colored and dipped in UTEE…a perfect fit near the sun flower! It just had to be there, Lol!

I drilled holes on the top and bottom to have some antique metal chain for the hanging on the top and some antiqued bells ringing in the bottom!
Truly a musical tree…what say friends??

Waiting to hear from you on this...I love sunshine and I love music and this incorporates both of that...Actually it just happened that way and I am so happy it did!
I would like to have my musical tree enter the following challenges…

A Journey Of Love !

Hello crafters..
It’s the month of LOVE and am back again soon with another project to share with you!
this I think will be a small post and has loooots of browns! After a few projects I had done before this, my hands were itching to touch the browns and this has a whole lot of it, lol!
A good friend of mine wanted a “special” gift for her husband and she had a few pointers for me.
These two had met during a flight travel and that’s how their “love” blossomed. So she wanted something that would remind them of that moment,
no pinks(understandable!),
no flowers..difficult, but possible,
masculine and classy…that’s it.
What do you think…I knew I was going to love doing this and this is what I came up with…

A wallet style album with pockets, flaps, folds and tags! Loads of brown…yummy!
I used Kraft CS and TH wall flower paper pack. My heart allowed me to tear only one page thought I needed three 12X12 sheets…so for the rest, I tore a few pages from an old school atlas (perfect for the journey theme) and a dull red PP from DCWV…I think these 2 papers just complemented the lovely wall flower paper…have a look.
The wallet cover has the lovely TH paper with the script side up and I made the label using TH stamps…stamped it on canvas, distressed the edges and mounted on card board.

The gear is a resin mold, sprayed with black and metallic gold acrylic colors and so is the hand made band “LOVE”. I made this using air drying clay, stamped the word, colored with acrylic sprays and pierced a hole to insert some red twine!

A little ticket tucked says it all…”admit one only in my heart”, lol! On the top I have a eyelet from which dangles a lovely vintage car, metal charm with some gold chain and some mini ornate book corners adds that classy metal look to the wallet!
When the wallet opens..
To the left..

I have used sheets from the atlas, some more stamping on tags, a little vintage clock held together with a little red wooden peg.
The center..

Has a belly band with more tags and space for journaling.
To the right..

More atlas sheet panels and some tags with the vintage jeep this time!

The bottom flap..

Opens up to reveal another pocket which has another photo mat. On the whole, this wallet can hold up to 25 photos of different sizes..PRICELESS!
The wallet is held together with an antique gold magnetic clasp.
I love making albums, and this one is really special cos it really has all the elements that I like to work with and mostly…it has lots of browns and is vintage too. What can I ask for…
My friend loved it and am waiting for the final verdict when she surprises her husband this weekend!  Keeping my fingers crossed..
Before that, I would like to have your feedback, that will make the wait easier for me, lol!
I would like to have my wallet enter the following challenges…
A VintageJourney – metal embellishments, spray, twine and also ephemera and paints.
Lessology- Tic tock (vintage clock embellishment and stamp, and pages from an old atlas re cycled)
CraftHoarders Anonymous- How I love thee
Make MyMonday – Valentine
SentimentalSundays- as much or as little  red

Thank you so much for stopping by.
Until my next creative journey,
Happy Crafting and Re cycling.
Big Hugs

For the Apple of my eye!

Hello crafters..
It’s the month of LOVE and am back again soon with another cute project this time (no browns this time too!). This one is for the apple of my eye…my little girl! She has a fetish for bags too, like me and so I made a stylish hand bag with some purpose! No, she can’t play with it but it sure will hold a lot of MEMORIES!

Yes, there is an album fitted inside the bag! Am sure, this ideas is not a new one..but it was exciting to make one, keeping a little girls interest. So it comes in all shades of pink…not surprising!
I wonder till what age girls have this fetish for pink too! I for one can’t take it though, don’t remember how I was as a little girl!
The bag was made with an empty cereal box and used lovely girlies papers from the DCWX Stack 8 to make the cover the bag and also for the album inside.
For the closure I used CLD English tea party doily die in silver CS and used 3 layers to make it thick and flexible to bend and open as a flap.
Beneath the doily, I fixed magnets for closing, punched holes on the sides and twisted silver ball chain chord to make the handles.
Of course, there had to be bling and a lovely lace flower to glam up this little girls bag!
Some broken earrings and a heart pendant make lovely danglers from the handle. I wanted a sentiment that fitted any occasion and so chose to stamp the word CELEBRATE with Inkadinkado stamp and again color it pink with my markers! I then mounted it on silver CS which I ran thru “heart” embossing folder to form a label for the bag!  I punched some foam hearts in white and pink too. Definitely not a designer bag but crafted with a lot of love by mommy!
When the bag snaps open there is little album waiting to be scanned! There are lots of pocket pages here. There is little purse that opens into a mini accordion album on the front and back cover of the bag.

The rest of the album is a pocket page style, with photo mats and tags for journaling. The album can take upt0 25 post card size photos and 20 small sized photos!
That’s a lot to keep in a handbag, lol!
I have not complicated the inside with any embellishments…wanted it to be a functional one to flip thru and store easily.

My little girl is happy with the new bag and is amazed that she can now keep her baby photographs in this! I am a little hyper with her handling it and keep watching how she is opening and closing it, lol! It has with stood her abuse in the last 2 days and is still surviving. I think I am going to lock it up and make her a dummy bag to play!
Thank you so much for stopping by and would like have your views on this.
I would like to enter this handbag album in the following challenges…
Glitter andsparkle Challenge – Love is in the air
Come andget it Challenge – Love is in the air

A FRIEND is ....

Hello crafters..
A warm welcome to all of you here. I have a cool'n' fun project to share with you today. If you are wondering at the title…it’s all about“FRIENDS” at AnythingBut A Card Challenge Blog this month. Anything your heart desire keeping friendship in mind…isn’t that cool. So hop over to see some amazing inspirations every week .
Here’s what my heart desired..In my dictionary, a girl’s best friends are bags and shoes, lol! At least I have a fetish for both…how about you???
…And a good friend is one who understands your crazy creative needs and here’s what  my friend gave me on my birthday.
A lovely Jute sling bag with a lot of scope for alteration! Now that’s what I call a friend, lol!
I decided to give the bag “my touch” and this is what I did to it.

I used my new Prima Bloom girl stamp and DI to color up that blank patch on the bag!
I stamped the image on canvas cloth, fuzzy cut her and colored with DI. I did not color the flowers intentionally and neither was I worried about the colors from the hair spreading to the flowers, lol! cos they were going to be covered with some lovely blooms! I then sealed the colors with a liberal spray of varnish...she was going to take the wear and tear of the bag, you see!
It’s just amazing how the die cuts thru layers of fabric like butter! I made all these flowers just in just one roll of the die!

Some lovely wooden buttons add beauty to the flowers and these in turn adorn the lovely girl! I was quite happy with the way it looked at the moment but wait, It just got over so fast! I have to add something more and here it is.
I made a shabby pillow charm to be hung from the sling. I used some torn denim fabric to make this. Stamped a quote on tissue with white embossing powder and then stuck it to the little pillow and hand stitched it all around!

The bloom girl just added that magic touch to the bag and she was ready to see the world with me!
I had a great time doing this and hope you liked it. Thank you so much for stopping by and would love to read what you have to say about this and don’t forget to play along at Anything But A Card Challenge Blog for the “FRIENDSHIP” challenge this month. See ya there…

I would like my bloom girl to enter the following challenges…

A Shabby LOVE !

Hello crafters..
Welcome to my page today…I have something totally different from my usual Vintage style! If you have been following me, you will agree as to how difficult it is fro me to keep away from the BROWNS!  This project is brown free…totally..That was a real challenge for me, but I did it. Let me know if you see any brown!
I have discovered a new love for books…not reading, who has the time??lol…
I have altered one more Mills and Boon this time, perfect setting for the LOVE month!

A shabby love story of a beautiful couple…here it is!
I so love this picture from the net, and wanted a proper  frame to get this couple in! So, I went about  making a shadow box from an old mills and boon! Leaving a few pages in the front and back, I carved out a box in the center to hold some…SURPRISE!
I was going to keep the base color white! Yes, even I was surprised at my decision…but I was going to do it!
After sealing the box with gel medium, I gave 2 coats of gesso and then started my texture work.  I randomly applied some pearlescent paints in soft shabby pastel colors in spots in the front and at the back and sides. Then, went about stamping some textures and script with Bo Bunny stamps. Then came the time for texture paste and basket weave stencil from Prima and when that dried, I rubbed in pearl silver on the texture.
By now the front page had a soft shimmery shine in silver and the whites and the soft colors made me happy…yes, no browns till now! Lol..
The heart widow on the front page is a hand cut out and I backed it with a cardboard at the back so it would be a sturdy closure. Some bling outlines the heart…after all it is supposed to be romantic, you see.

I used my new Heart felt creations, Ariana Blooms (my prize win) to make some flowers and have inked the edges alone so as to keep it shabby too. The florish leaf is a resin mold which I gessoed and then applied some distress crackle and then pearl blue in the crack. Its just so pretty!
The ornate metal book corners are also given an aged shabby look with just rubbing a bit of gesso…no browns here again!
I have dyed the seam binding in pastel colors with worn lipstick and peacock feathers DI.

And then the book opens….
This is what you  see!

A shabby heart key chain, a love message scroll and lovely ruby heart…does this remind you of Titanic!I know that was in blue, but this was the closest I could get! I just loved this ruby heart…it’s a broken hair clip, lol! It just was waiting to fit in this love project..
The shabby key chain..is a stamped image using Paper Artsy stamp on one side and Itsy Bitsy on the other side. I stamped on canvas and colored with DI and then sealed it with varnish. The heart has crackle paint too and I have done some shabby machine stitching too..

The romantic message scroll too have been inked in complimenting colors and tied with twine and lay in a bed of shabby cheese cloth…no browns here too!
Have a closer look at this ruby heart! The front cover of the book is backed using paper from Prima Sunrise sunset paper pack…lovely lace pattern paper, so I dint alter it one bit.

The shadow box too has some stamping, inking , water wash and bling! Not to forget the back…

The entire book is edged with prima chalk egder , Tin can.
So, I have successfully completed a project without using brown paint or ink!! Did you see any???
I would love to hear your feed back on this shabby Love story. And it is now a proud display in my living room, cos the photo can be changed! I had to document my achievement of not using browns you see, Lol! Thanks for putting up with my chitter chatter!
Am now wondering "what next with a mills and boon" ???
I am entering my altered book in the following challenges..
CraftyCatz- Stitching
PolkaDoodle – flower power
SimplyCreate too- use hearts
Brown SugarChallenge – 3 diff embellishments
OCC- Metal, ribbon, paints
Try It On Tuesday - Add a photo
Thank you so much for stopping by today.
Until my next creative journey,
Happy Crafting and Re cycling.

Colors of valentine !

Hello crafters..
Welcome to my page today…I would like to thank my followers “old” and New” and for those who take the time to stop by and leave a comment, I love to read them all!
Welcome to the official month of LOVE!
This is my DT project for Rhedd’s Creative Spirit for this month. It is always Anything Goes and you can create any form of altered art or 3D project. So come on and play along and do drop by to see the amazing works of the team.

I have always wondered about the colors of love, why should it always be red and black. I have played with Ms. Worn Lipstick and Mr. Peacock feathers for a change and I must admit their romance is pretty colorful.
Do you want to see…..
I have altered a “Mills and Boon” book for this project…perfect for the month, lol!
I also experimented with printing on tissue at home on a Ink Jet printer and being successful, would like to share the process with you.
Here we go…
I first adhered a tissue paper to the printer paper with washi tape and inserted it onto the printer as always.
I then compiled a set of pics to be printed on one page, here are some lovely vintage pics from We Love Vintage Challenge Blog…just my type!
And once I gave the “print” command…out comes the lovely print on the tissue paper. Oooo…I just love it…I carefully removed the backing and it was ready to hit my project.
Hope that was helpful for you.
Now to the main project…
I knew it was going to be vintage and with the main colors in mind, I added a few more supportive colors for the tags. I din’t want to restrict my valentine project to just a couple, and so I have a sister, brother, father or friend images for the tag.
The tags are Joy crafts die cuts and I colored them typical Tim style by applying inks on the craft mat, sprit zing water and swooshing the tag to get lovely patters. Than a little water flick and I just loved the impact. I then did some bg stamping using brown archival ink and the base of the tags were to be altered.

For the front of the tag, I stuck the tissue print of images and some TH quotes with gel medium. At the back of each tag, I stamped the months so that I can jot down things to be done for that month! The functional part you see…lol!
The ornate top of the tag was heat embossed in gold and my tags were ready to be displayed in style!

I then folded the pages of the book and then inked in worn lipstick and edged with vintage photo and some peacock feathers too…after all its their romance right???
A gilding of gold on the page folds on the top, gave it a royal touch and the tag stand was ready.
I covered the book using some lovely PP from K& Co  and started working on the front and back display mats. Swished out some home made texture paste to it and added gold color and glitter to the paste and created hearts using TH stencil.

I love the subtle glitter of the gold, I have to thank Pamellia of ‘My Little Craft Things” for introducing this formula. Thanks buddy…this is a hit.
Roses, had to be there and so made them with TH tattered florals die and inked them too and placed them on the font and back until I liked them.
Here is the front side…

To add some more dimension, I placed the flowers on a bed of coconut coir( I love it) and added some leaves, a twine bow and a golden flourish!  I plaited 3 strands of twine and knotted the ends to form tassels. I then inked it with peacock feathers and rubbed inks gold a on the tassels and made a bow. I think it's a little beauty out there!

The corners have ornate book corners colored with alcohol inks and look at those lovely butterflies hovering. I cut them out from the Mariposa paper pack, inked the edges, applied rock candy distress crackle paint and then rubbed in Inka gold on the cracks!

This is the back display..
A few tags are casually placed on the mat here.

That brings us to the end of the romantic journey and I am eagerly waiting to hear from you and to also see what you have created for this challenge.
I would like to link my altered book in the following challenges…
