Leather play with PLAID!

Good morning!
Its Thursday again and am so so excited today for two things...one, its a masculine project that I am sharing with you today and two, I have a detailed video tutorial about the FAUX LEATHER TEXTURE . I hope you will take the time to see the entire video and try your hands on this technique.

Here are products that I have used for this...

The PRODUCT HIGHLIGHT for this week is The Folkart BLENDING GEL and ofcourse I have used a whole lot of PLAID products, their chalk paints, Liquid leaf, Modge podge Dimensional magic and also the Satin Varnish.

I have altered a packaging box as always and here a few pictures of the completed project.

Here is the you tube link for the tutorial.

I am eagerly awaiting your feedback to this tutorial and I hope you do try this simple technique using the blending gel! Now, no more worries for making masculine gifts, lol!

Until my next Thursday,
Happy crafting and recycling,
Cheers.

"SPRING" in a box!

Hello...
Welcome to my page today!
I am here to share with you my DT project with Rhedd's Creative Spirit. It's always anything Goes..Mixed media or altered art.
I have an altered box for today's project and yes, of course I recycled something...
a sweet box.

I was so keen on my new experiment, I forgot to take pics of the WIP! Excuse me for that.
This is how the completed piece looks after the makeover.

I first gave the box a coat of gesso and then decoupaged this pretty napkin that I had.

I then took some air dry clay and flattened it out and covered a portion of the box and curled the edges.
When it was still semi dry, I took out a rubber stamp and stamped on it. This gave some lovely impression.

Once the whole thing dried, I took out some acrylic paints to compliment the tissue and started coloring.
On the clay area, I applied green and then wiped off immediately with a damp cloth, to give a distressed washed look.
I also fixed a closure using brads in the front.

I the stamped this quote from Paper Artsy and lined it up on the top.

Do you want to see what's inside???

I gave the box some partition with cardboard and now I use it to store my crafty knick knacks.
Hope you do take the time to play along and do drop by to see what the team has in store for you.

Until my next creative journey,
Happy crafting and recycling.
Cheers.
