Faux palette wood play with plaid

Hellloo...
It's the last THURSDAY of this month and I have seen you 5 times this month! I thought I will end this month with a video tutorial on how to paint FAUX PALETTE WOOD with chalk paints on any smooth surface.

The technique that I show can be done on mdf or art journals or even card stock. All you need is some gesso and a few chalk paints(colors of your choice).

Do watch the video, give the technique a try and get back to me if you have any queries.

The faux palette is one of my fav techniques and I have done a lot of projects using it. I have some pictures at the end of the video which should give you a lot of project ideas too.

Here is what I made today with a piece of mdf board, chalk paints and some old keys!

I will see you next week with another Plaid play.
Until my next creative journey,
Happy crafting and recycling.
Cheers

Decoupage Caddy

Hellooo....
Its the beginning of the month and am here with my DT post for Rhedd's Creative Spirit. It's altered art or mixed media always and today I have given a plain wooden caddy a makeover.

I have used a tissue to decoupage and also used chalk paints from PLAID.

The squeeze tool/comb from Plaid is an amazing tool to give instant texture and dimension to an otherwise painted surface.

Here is a closer look with the pattern using the tool. Its gives a slight raised effect to the paint and at the same time a slightly distressed look.

The lovely orchids pattern tissue had be adhered using Modpodge and the excess has been sanded off.

I have used Home decor chalk paints Lilac and Castle. The edged have been distressed with castle and the inside of the caddy too painted with the same color.

I also soaked some cotton rope in watery chalk paint and then let it dry. The colored rope was then used around the handle.

I love how this turned out, lovely pastel shades and looks so different from the original now!

I hope you take the time to visit the blog to see the team's inspiration and play along too.
Thanks for stopping by.
