Hello Crafters...
Am here today with I think a bizarre project ! Call me crazy...but I just can't help working on altered projects. Every time I look around the house to see what all items are unused, old or need a makeover and I accumulate them and work on altering them!
So, This time in queue was this bathroom slipper,,,yes, you heard me right!!!
I had taken a couple of these from a hotel that we were staying during our vacation and I knew that someday it would come to use BUT never thought I would use it this way!!!!! These are unused of course ,LOL!!!!
I was so drawn to this challenge by Simon says and they wanted something in white! This slipper in it's original form was pure white and I thought I will work on vintage, shabby chic theme. I chose the color pink to go with it and have
used different mediums of the color and different shades too (mailny spun sugar and picked raspberry DI in various dilutions).
Firstly, I stuck this lovely PP from DCWV French stack and also adhered a thick piece of chipboard to the sole so that it is sturdy and does not sag with kind of work that I was planning!
Created textures using home made texture paste in light pink and used Prime clocks stencil.
I had this lovely vintage quote on friendship which I thought would make a good focal point.
All the flowers again are hand made using die cuts from TH, Joy crafts, punches and they too are in different shades of pink. They have all been misted and sprayed with inks and curled and twisted to become these beauties and also inked the edges with vintage photo.
The pocket watch too is a combination of a die and TH stamp and is totally Prima inspired embellishment in shabby pink!
The doily at the base gives a delicate, feminine look and is from CLD. The leaves are from spellbinders. I altered the clothes pin too and used it to clip a bunch of unused note book paper which has been distressed and inked too.
The challenge at ABAC required us to use "anything 5" and here I have used 5 flowers and also have stamped the 5 letter words which represents the spirit of today's woman!
I have lined the edges of the slipper with jute rope and have used the same to create a loop to hang it on the wall!
This definitely is finding a place near my telephone . Now, no more hunting for a paper or a pencil and I now have a place for my pending bills! The pocket is so handy to keep those little coins and changes that you need everyday!
Well, re using, altering, creating, hand made and utility...all in one go!!!
Do you still want to call me crazy??? My husband gave me a 9 on 10 for this and says this is my creative best !!! Is he crazy too??? Am waiting to hear your feedback...Thanks soooo much for stopping by.
Have a great weekend.

What a great project and an ingenious use of a slipper!!! I love how you have used the texture paste and the flowers look stunning. Thanks for joining in at Anything But A Card this time.
ReplyDelete10 on10 from me Rupa !!! If now hotels report of people carrying slippers home, we know who to blame !!! seriously though....I love the transformation and that it is so useful too !!
ReplyDeleteOh no! Suman, I never thought of that! Thank you so much...so I am not that crazy, looks like it!
DeleteHoly cow! How clever are you?? I am a lover of art and slippers, so you can bet that I was completely overjoyed to see your project! That is such a unique idea and I love your originality. What a lucky slipper to have such a stunning makeover. The color palette is incredible and I love all the dimension those flowers add. I'm so impressed that A) you made your own texture paste and B) that you successfully and beautifully applied it to a slipper! This is a wonderful creation and I'm so glad that you shared it with us here at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog! And hey- I don't see how the hotel could ever be mad at you for walking away with the slippers when you made it look so great!
ReplyDeleteNow that is so clever, very creative, love the colour and all the decoration.
