Hello Crafters…
Just as I was giving up on my “creative mojo”, I received my
new craft supplies !!! Mr. mojo has re
visited…Yeh! Yeh…cant wait to start…
I decided to make a card for my brother. I have been
thinking about him lately….he is 9yrs younger to me and in that sense we
actually never got to spend many years together! He was in the 10th
grade when I got married and left home(
the time when he needed me most) and later after his higher studies, he left
for London.
I have fond memories of this little boy in his tattered
jeans who is a happy go lucky guy…and today, miles apart…he is a handsome young
man, discovering himself! He is free spirited, loves music and is a drummer
too! He is going thru an important and experimental phase in his life…and thru
this card I wanted to convey what is in my heart.
Oh my! Am I getting sentimental here! The card has all the
macho elements( I think) and I had great fun doing this one without my trade
mark flowers. As always , this card is loaded with macho embellies…some of his
favorite things too! I have stuck to browns, blues and whites as that’s what
describes him best!
A masculine project and without being influenced by Tim or using his products is next to impossible!
Let’s go ahead with the pictorials…
The hand made pocket made out of an old pair of jean, machine stitched and have distressed the edges, torn in places, inked with walnut stain, used TCW stencil( mini texturized) and Distress stain(picket fence) to create the splatter! The pocket has a music sheet on the inner side which can be seen on the roll up and on the torn parts! I love it!!!!!
The metallic finish gears are resin charms using the modge mold. I decided to have my "brother" inside Tim's ornate label! A little jute bow with the gears adds a lot of weight on this side of the card! Hope you can see Tim's stitch stamps used here with distress ink, walnut stain.
The rolled up pocket with the tags spilling out. The tags have been stamped with Tims Visual artistry stamps using Di and have been inked with faded jeans and walnut stain. The tickets have been crushed to give some texture and weathered look. The entire card has been distressed using the distress tool and stained again with picket fence(distress stain)! Well, that's my first stain that I have bought, wanted to try before I buy a lot of them...looks like my next order list is getting ready, lol!
Grunge paste and metallic finish to the die cut(hardware findings) fastened with a brad.
If you are wondering what the birds are doing on a masculine card...well I am hoping these birds will carry this message to my brother!
My little bro needs a lots of positive vibes now and with this card I hope to give him that much needed support though I cant be with him in person. Do join me in wishing "good luck" to my brother on his new venture, on which he has set his heart and soul and is working very hard towards his passion. Love you, Bro...
