vintage mixed media altered bottle

Vintage and distess inks are my favourite techniques and this altered bottle was a tribute to my friends,old and new!

I gave the prima doll a very vintage look by coloring her in walnut stain and kept her hair dark with black soot. Next, I cut her dress form from in brown and black polka dots from DCWV stack8.Since I had only white lace in my stash, I misted black soot and created a trim for the hemline.

 I did not want any color on thebottle , so just tried to create some texture on it. Firstly I tore out a  paper from an old novel into bits and distressed the edges with walnut stain and randomly started sticking it on one half of the bottle with modge podge. For the other half, I scooped out some gesso with my fingers and dabbed it on the bottle to give it a nice texture. It was too white, so I just rubbed the excess walnut stain from the sponge and that gave a nice worn out, vintage look to the texture!
Keeping the vintage theme in mind, I stuck to black, white and browns for embelishing.
I wrapped some twine and tied a brown ribbon too on the neck of the bottle. On one side I mounted the doll and on the other side I mounted the friends sentiment tags from whimsy stamps collection.

I stamped a couple of friends sentiment on white hand made paper, distressed it and mounted it on corrugated cardboard scalloped square die cut. Fixed an eyelet and strung them all using the natural twine. The bottle was now fully coverd except for the top.
I realised that the entire look was too brown and black and decided to add a dash of red to brighten up the whole thing. I cut out the tim holtz tatterd floral die in white cardstock, colored it using fired brick and stamped some scripting on it and made a rose. This red flower I mounted on to a scrunchie flower made from black ribbon and stuck it to the the rim of the bottle and phew! My vintage, mixed media altered bottle .....a lovley tribute to " My friends" was ready!
